Popovo Polje (meaning priest’s field) is one of the largest field in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world, famous for its karstic phenomenons and features, and particularly for its the Trebišnjica River, which flows through the polje as largest sinking river the world. Our cycling tour will start in a small village which had an important role in the 20th century as the main railroad station in the region. We will cycle on the paved, quite, easy, flat and scenic road throught Popovo Polje and its ancient stone villages. We will stop by the Vjetrenica cave which is located on the western edge of Popovo polje in the village Zavala. The cave has so many galleries and corridors, lakes, waterfalls and numerous stalactities and stalagmites. Vjetrenica is also one of the richest caves in the term of subterranean biodiversity. The amphibious cave salamander Proteus anguinus more commonly known as “Čovječja ribica” or the “human fish” is the most well known of the rare endemic species which can be found in the Vjetrenica cave.

The tour will cover an approximate distance of 25 kilometers just on FLAT ROADS with almost no traffic.
