Slovenia is a little country in the heart of Europe with incredible natural attractions and a diverse landscape. Go on a cycling holiday where you can experience a combination of the idyllic Alpine scenery and the green, trendy Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. You get to visit Slovenia’s incredible sights and watch its scenic Alpine countryside with your own eyes. In 2021, Slovenia was crowned the European gastronomic region. For this reason, we offer on this tour a Michelin star gourmet experience at House Linhart by chef Uroš Štefelin.

“Slovenia’s wide range of geo-cultural diversity in such a small country lends itself to bike travel. Pedal 60km in any direction and you’ll feel like you’ve traveled to another land.”

1

Day 1: Arrival in Slovenia

First you can settle in your chosen accommodation and have a little rest. Then it’s already time to take in the medieval town of Kamnik that is cradled by the surrounding mountains, creating a wonderful backdrop. There is a reception before dinner and a presentation of the itinerary by a local travel agency.
2

Day 2: Kamnik – Luče and the River Savinja

First part of the mountain fairy tale

Your holidays begin with a bicycle-friendly ascent to the mountain saddle that connects two mountain valleys. Next comes a pleasurable descent along peaceful local roads to the mountain village of Luče that is hidden between the mountains and the River Savinja, one of Slovenia’s cleanest rivers.

Route detail: ca. 30 km, + 650 m / – 520m. Private transfer to shorten the route available.

3

Day 3: Luče – Logar Valley landscape park

Three valleys, three stories of the harmony between people and nature

Many consider the Logar Valley to be one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys in Europe. A picturesque road takes us to our destination passing several natural attractions including Igla, which means needle in Slovenian and is a 40m tall, imposing solitary peak, separated from the surrounding rock by only a narrow crack. Those looking for the perfect spot to take a picture can extend the tour to Robanov kot, the first of the three valleys in the landscape park. We will conclude this lovely day of cycling with a visit to the heart of the valley, which comes to an end at the majestic Rinka waterfall.

Route detail: ca. 28 km, easy ascent

4

Day 4: Logar Valley – a quick jump into Austria – Jezersko

Panoramic views of all the surrounding mountain ranges. Unforgettable!

What comes next is the most challenging, but also the most picturesque section of the tour. The ascent to the two mountain saddles can be shortened by using additional transport. After taking in the view, you will go an enjoyable descent along a peaceful mountain road back down to your accommodation into the valley of Jezersko.

Route detail: 35 km, 2 mountain passes: +250 and +350 m. Private transfer to shorten the route available.

5

Day 5: Jezersko – Preddvor – Bled

The image of heaven

Descend along the narrow gorge of the River Kokra, next enjoy a break alongside Lake Črnava, and then continue in the direction of the Julian Alps and the Triglav National Park. The stunningly beautiful glacial lake, the church built on the tiny island in the middle of the lake and the medieval castle rising up on a 100m cliff overlooking the lake are the main reasons that many consider Bled to be one of the most beautiful and exceptional Alpine resorts in Europe.

Route detail: ca. 55 km, first 20 km descent for -410 m, varied terrain till Bled

6

Day 6: Day for rest or Round trip Bled

After four days of cycling, you deserved a day of rest. For those, who are pure enthusiasts, there is a trip around the lake, after which we drive to Bled through the typical Lower Alpine villages with farmhouses. There is also the possibility to visit “Vintgar rocky gorge” and the castle of Bled. From the castle are the most beautiful panoramic views of the lake with the island and the surrounding landscapes. In the evening, a special experience is waiting for you, a dinner at Michelin star restaurant Linhart with chef Uroš Štefelin.

Route detail: ca. 23 km, + 280 m / – 280 m.

7

Day 7: Bled – Ljubljana

The charming capital of Slovenia

The cycling connection to the capital uncovers a completely new perspective of Slovenia. The green fields and lowlands across which wind languid rivers. Ljubljana  is one the youngest and liveliest of the European capitals. A city of baroque and art nouveau influences and a medieval old town center with many bridges that span the River Ljubljanica. An excellent destination to conclude your holidays.

Route detail: 58 km, + 276 m / – 475 m.
