This hiking tour takes us up the mountains with unpronounceable names and overpasses, where the views take our breath away. Tolsti Vrh and Prsivec are our main destinations, because that is where the beauty of the Slovenian Alps is revealed. From Tolsti Vrh we look at the mountain peaks of the Karawanks, with Storzic rising in the east. We hover above the shimmering blue Lake Bohinj on the unique Prsivec which offers 360-degree panoramic views. At green pastures and rustic huts we explore the most beautiful mountain landscape in Slovenia. At times it is rocky and karstic, then again dreamy and lovely. Here between Kamnik and Julian Alps hides a little hiking paradise.

If you are curious where you can find some of the best spices and herbs in Slovenia, then this is your chance to find out! Jezersko is home to more than a 1000 different plant species. Some of them are medicinal, some edible, others are poisonous and very rare. During the hike with an experienced herbalist you will be able to observe many of them and visit an herbal garden on the end. For a relaxing finish you will mix a cup of your own tea!

Day 3: Panoramic passes

After a short transfer we go through a deep valley to Baseljski Pass (1,630 m). Above we enjoy the view of Storzic (2,132 m) and walk to beautifully located Kališče hut. On the terrace we stretch our legs and admire the panoramic Karawanks – a perfect picnic setting. Through the green and framed by steep cliffs Baseljska Valley we descend to Črnava Lake that will impress us with its dark blue color (1 night).

Day 4: Rock tunnel and alpine pastures in Karawanks

First we walk to Loibl Pass. Here begins one of the most popular tours of Julius Kugy, who explored the local mountains in the 19th century. The tour takes us across the steep karst rocks to a rock tunnel, then gently rises to Prevala saddle (1,311 m). We take our backpacks off at the small Prevala hut and look down into the lovely valley of the river Sava and up the steep peaks of Baba (1,968 m), Kosuta (2,088 m) and Storzic. After an enjoyable break we walk down to Begunje and drive to Bled, one of the most beautiful places in Slovenia (4 nights).

Day 5: Pokljuka - the hearth of Triglav National Park

To take part in yet another panoramic tour we drive by bus to Pokljuka / Rudno Polje, a beautiful plateau (1,345 m) in the middle of the Triglav National Park. Across fragrant alpine meadows, we climb up to Blejska hut. Now we are in the heart of the Julian Alps. With fabulous views of the neighboring peaks, we descend to Rudno Polje.

Day 6: Back to the panoramic mountain Prsivec over Bohinj lake

And finally we treat ourselves to one last panoramic mountain, Prsivec (1,761 m). We walk pass the hut Planina pri Jezeru to this above the Bohinj lake floating summit. From there we can see the peaks of the highest mountains of Slovenia in the north (including Triglav and Kanjavec, 2,568 m) and Lake Bohinj glistening in the sun in the southeast. Just wonderful! Then we descend to the breathtaking lake Bohinj where we toast to our magnificent panoramic tour.
